Hood Alignment sideways and door alignment
Going to look at a truck(1960) and he sent me these picks showing the hood needs to be aligned still, whats the best way for side way movement. Then the doors need to be aligned also. If I do purchase the truck what is the best way to tackle this

Re: Hood Alignment sideways and door alignment
The hood alignment comes from the hinges in the back and the hood latch on the front. Doors are done of the hinges and striker plates. The hood alignment may also be to the front end not being square if its been removed and reinstalled.

Re: Hood Alignment sideways and door alignment
Any best way to check the front end to make sure it's square? Have access to a hoist when I'm looking at it

Re: Hood Alignment sideways and door alignment
Take measurements from the firewall....inner corner of the top of the inner fender to the radiator support. Need driver side firewall inner fender to pass side radiator support and pass side inner fender to driver side of the radiator support. Numbers should be the same or the font end is not square. If one side is longer, then the front end needs loosened and readjusted.
Front end should assemble as inner fenders/core support 1st. Outer fenders/grill support 2nd. It is easier to adjust the doors with the front fenders off....gives much more room to access the hinges. Factory chart for door gaps attached.

Re: Hood Alignment sideways and door alignment
The rear of my '61 hood sits high like yours too. I've seen other '60 & '61 where the rear reinforcement assembly of the hood separates from the hood sheet metal. The gap of the left side of my hood and the reinforcement is well over an inch. I use my hand to push down the hood corners after I've closed the hood. If you can do that, I wouldn't suggest moving the hood until the problem is fixed. I'm not a sheet metal expert; does anyone else have experience fixing a rear reinforcement assembly hood separation?
