Looking for info on full length AC units...Rare or not?
I have a 71 GMC and I just removed all of the original A/C stuff. I have seen a lot of the rear AC units but haven't come across many with the full length unit. Has anyone ever crunched numbers to find out how many of these were made? Are they rare or not? Is there any demand at all for parts or anything?

I don't know if it is necessarily rare but it is uncommon. It definitely has some value to it. How much value I do not know; maybe a couple hundred bucks.

I pulled one out of a '72 burb that I dismantled a few years ago. I just put it up in the barn in case I need it down the road. If I were you and wasn't going to use it I would spring for a "Premium" membership and put it on the parts board. LockDoc

I have the one complete I took out of my '70 Suburban. I'd love to sell it but I'm afraid to ship it-it would be a nightmare.....

Are these pretty straight forward to remove or are there any tricks? I saw some plastic looking pins maybe in a few places but I wasn't sure if they are part of what's attaching the a/c.

It's been long enough ago that I can't really remember how it came out. It must not have been too bad or I would remember the swearing and stuff... LockDoc

Thanks Lockdoc. Hopefully I'll be removing it this weekend and I'll find out. I'll try to keep the cussing to a minimum
