Bell housing/clutch cover?

I have a '69 C10 with a '83 350 mounted to a Muncie M21.
The bell housing is cast iron and is missing the cover for the bottom, which leaves the clutch and flywheel very exposed. I am not quite sure what year or model this bell housing is from, but would like to find a cover. Looking for "trans cover" or "bell housing cover shows me very little that looks similar to what I need. I assume that the M21 is off of a camaro-is that what i am looking for? Sort of answering my own question here-thanks for any pointers.

Re: Bell housing/clutch cover?

Try searching " clutch inspection cover"
The style used on these trucks is the older style.
Most times you'll bring up the newer version or for a automatic.
Ask for one on the parts board I'm sure somebody will come through.

Re: Bell housing/clutch cover?

Muncie 21 you mean a 4 speed car transmission? The cars used one piece aluminum bell housings since the early 60's I believe. Earlier cars had the open bottom housings like the many of the truck have...The bottom pans are all similar but not necessarily will interchange . To get the correct one you may need the casting number off the housing...Or buy one that looks close and modify it to fit... It only needs to keep out the big stuff...
I ran a truck without a cover until a large rag decided to get tangled up inside blocking the clutch action..A lot of fun with a torch burning away the rag..

Re: Bell housing/clutch cover?

Thanks guys,

Yes, the truck has a M21 car transmission in it, but it looks like it is bolted to the original Cast iron open bottom bell housing. I appreciate the information. I will look for a cover to keep out the rags, squirrels and other creatures!

Re: Bell housing/clutch cover?

There is a flat cover that goes in front of the flywheel & a cupped cover that goes underneath. The same ones fit many trucks from that era & are available from the specialty suppliers. I got them through the Chevy dealers parts dept. not too long ago. I have the part #s at the shop & will get there tomorrow.
