Blazer hatch glass
My hatch glass was broke by the tint shop while trying to clean it. They are paying for the glass but i called around different auto glass shops and they all say it is discontinued and can not get this glass. Anybody had any expirience with this?
Thank you |

Re: Blazer hatch glass
Any experience with having it cut by a glass shop and what thickness would the rear hatch glass be?

Re: Blazer hatch glass
It's been a while since I had mine out, so I don't remember the thickness, but I would guess 3/16. A glass shop should be able to make a pattern and send it out to have a piece of tempered glass made. They could also cut a piece of laminated glass, but I would prefer the tempered if it were me; tempered glass is a lot stronger.

Re: Blazer hatch glass
The side glass on mine was tempered, the hatch glass was laminated.
As was said a good glass shop should be able to make a laminated piece of glass for you. |

Re: Blazer hatch glass
Thanks for the advice everyone. That will be the tricky part, to find a good glass company in this town. 2 tint shops in less than 24 hrs and neither got it right. 1st shop made a mess of the tint, 2nd shop got the tint 100% but accidentally broke the rear hatch glass.

Re: Blazer hatch glass
All the tops glass were tempered and a 1/4 inch thick. I replaced all of mine with new laminated safety green glass. It is 3/8 thick but will fir the gaskets okay. MAKE SURE YOU keep a paper template of you glass before replacing

Re: Blazer hatch glass
Mine measured out to 0.20" on the digital caliper. So that's shy of 1/4".

Sorry to hear about your hatch glass. What shop did you use? I have 1 or 2 I could recommend, but I'll wait to hear who F/U'd first.

Re: Blazer hatch glass
I think AZ is just behind everyone else. Just adding to this hatch glass ordeal. The glass guy is on his 3rd try to get the glass right. Every time he cuts it too small or the corners are not long enough. I wont say the name of his company, he is an extremely nice guy and is trying but I dont think I have any more patience.
