Question 3 Link Questions

Well since my budget has changed I have decided to go with a 3 link for a better solution than what I have.

I plan to use parallel bars mounted outside the frame rails since the existing leafs are outside. In doing so is there a certain point on the frame I should mount to? Is there a limit to how far forward they should be [behind the cab]? I'm not bagging it so coil overs will be used and I plan to drop it about 6" in the rear. Would mounting the forward point of the bars be better at just under the frame rails or should I make mounts that can give adjustments of up to 6" up or down from just under the frame?

I will be using a heavy duty wishbone to locate it and will give myself enough adjustment on the coil overs by mounting them higher or lower based on tire and wheels and for the type of driving.

Re: 3 Link Questions

Here is a pretty good 3 link article: http://www.pro-touring.com/threads/1...my-3-link-bars

What are you using the truck for? How often do you plan on adjusting your suspension? If you are using coil overs you can get away with shorter bars. Shorter bars mean each adjustment will have more of an affect on your squat and anti-squat. I don't think you would need 6 inches of adjustment for a street vehicle.

I personally plan on running my bars as far out as possible. I'm going bag on bar so it will have more of an effect but the further out your bars are the less forward/rearward movement your rearend will have.

Re: 3 Link Questions

It will either be on the street or at an undisclosed location and maybe the track.

Re: 3 Link Questions

After reading that long paragraph [thanks Tiny] I did some further research and found that even ladder bars be can be had up to 48". Now another question is in regards to the coil overs themselves, is there any reason why they have to be mounted behind the rearend? The Dana rearend has both shocks mounted in front of the axle and the upper mount can be relocated so they are straight up and down like most aftermarket mounts have them.
