1968 C20 4x4 rims
I am restoring my grandpas 1968 c20 and it currently has the 16x8 split rims that no one will work on so I need new ones. I want something that is like the original with hub caps but cant seemed to find them anywhere. Does anyone know if someone makes an reproduction style OEM rim? Or if not a rim that will look good on the truck.
Thanks |

Re: 1968 C20 4x4 rims
WheelVintiques makes very nice 16" steels in 8x6.5 lug pattern. I've got the satin black 16x10s on my 72 K2500. And original style dog dish hubcaps should work.
They offer satin black and chrome off the shelf, but they can do custom colors.

How about these, they are cheap, stock appearing and should take a c20 hubcap.

Re: 1968 C20 4x4 rims
Welcome to the forums.
Wheel width is measured inside bead-to-bead, and OEM split rims are no more than 16x6. I suspect your 16x8 measurement was from outer edge to outer edge. At any rate, yes, most tire shops will not touch a split rim (technically a locking ring wheel). But if you really prefer using them, look for a truck tire shop that works on big rigs. Many of those are properly equipped & trained to safely work on those wheels.

These wheels would work as well. My brother ordered these for his 68' c20.

Or, you could scrounge the local junkyard for a set of 8-lug 16-inch rims. I got some off of a FORD (sorry) and they took the hubcaps perfectly.

Re: 1968 C20 4x4 rims
I went with the WheelVintigues 16 in so the original dog style dish hubcaps will work with them? also will work with the front front 4x4 hubs?

I had a hard time finding 8 lug GM wheels in CA desert junkyards when I lived there, but I did manage about 7 of them (needed 8..) Someone posted a trailer wheel above - I'd want to compare weight ratings to a stock replacement wheel before using a trailer wheel - and there's probably no way to know if a cap will fit unless you buy. |

P.S. For future reference. K20 is a 4X4, C20 is 2wd.

Re: 1968 C20 4x4 rims
My 72 has a 4" lift, and I'm running 35 inch tires (BFG TA KO2 315/75/16), but those would be too tall for stock height.
