CARPAC roof rack

Is anyone using a CARPAC roof rack on their suburban? If so, what are the dimensions of the rack? I am looking for a roof rack for my burb! Thanks, Jim

Re: CARPAC roof rack

I have had several and would think the 6 footer would look the best. The 8 footer is really longer looking than measured if that makes sense. I tried to get one on my 50 burb but the roof contour is too dramatic to work with the floating feet. My 55 wagon sported a 5 footer and looked good.

Check out Micheal at classicracks.com for parts support or even a new one!

Re: CARPAC roof rack

I have one that's 5ft x 3 1/2 ft.

I found it after I had already made my own cheap copy, which is longer and wider. It uses three suction cups and straps which I will replace with those lock down brackets.

Re: CARPAC roof rack

A few more pics; It seems too small and then depending on the angle it looks OK.
I think the pedestals are supposed to sit on the curve of the roof, but it seems sturdy enough. It's more for looks then actually carrying anything of real weight; Surfboard or ?

Re: CARPAC roof rack

Yes, it's a 1961 and it's mostly stock GMC V6 with the exception of an overdrive NP440, PB, PS and some quasi-stock looking upgrades. Bought it on EBay awhile back (2007). I'm going back to the 15 steel wheels.
