Speedometer Q&A

Hey everyone.

I have a 71 Cheyenne k10 283/th350. Its had speedo noise/bouncing problems since day one. I have pulled the cable and head unit and cleaned and relubed both only to have it happen a few months down the road. heres the interesting thing to me. I have the original speedo that came in the truck in 71' and installed it yesterday to see if maybe it would be better than the replacement the PO used. I lubed it up and no noise/little bouncing. BUT it reads 15mph faster! how could this be? shouldn't both speedos read the same? thoughts? experiences? Has anyone successfully repaired one of these? Id hate to resort to a china made repop if theres any chance on fixing these. I cant seem to find a thread explaining a rebuild or repair on these other than simple lube job on the gears.

Thanks in advance,
