1 ton swb dually

Hey guys,
Showed up and starting asking questions the past few weeks and though I would share some progression pictures. Truck was originally a 133" lwb cab and chassis.

Looks like a pretty good start. What are the plans for it?

Re: 1 ton swb dually

Plans are to keep it fairly original body wise, truck needs an entire floor panel, cab corners, rockers just that I can see. I may tackle that in the distant future. Next will be tuning up the 250 I6. I have everything purchased, just need to install. Going to flip the axle, lose some leaf springs and get the truck lower to the ground. I also have to decide what to do for a box/service body. The truck will be an around town cruiser.

This will lower the rear of the truck.

Re: 1 ton swb dually

I have been on the lookout for a truck set up like this for a while. I would go the opposite direction though and leave the winch bed and gin poles and add a Dana 60 front axle, t case , converting to 4x4. The. Again I already have a truck that's lowered 3"/4"

Re: 1 ton swb dually

It see the door signs say it came from a house mover. It has a look similar to ones I saw growing up in south Texas. They were used as oil lease service trucks. Obviously longer wheelbase and Usually loaded with a lot more tools.

I almost bout a late 80's k30 about six months ago. It was actually a ranch truck. It had a flat bed but no bed winch. It had a partial 2" pipe exoskeleton. No title and owner wanted $1500. One of his kids talked him out of it after we made the deal.

Why don't you get a 6 month "Premium" membership and advertise it on the board? No better place to sell it than to a like minded audience....

Standard 115" short wheelbase. My truck started life as a 157" wheelbase cab and chassis. Went directly to Open Road who sliced the frame and extended it 18 more inches to a grand total of 175". When I shortened it I took out exactly 60".

Re: 1 ton swb dually

Got the rear axle flipped. Still have the pinion angle to set and shorter shocks to mount. I will be getting a notch welded in eventually. The truck isn't going anywhere for the winter so no rush, about 1.5" off the frame currently. Next will be getting the front down.

Looks great. Have this same thing in mind for Homer some day in the future possibly. We'll see.

Got the front lowered. Not easy to make this thing look low with the 33" tall tires.
