production # question

In light of pritch's thread about his flasher knob. Prompts me to ask this question.

I always suspected My truck to be a early build, going through my paper work (the order paper)again I noticed a production sequence # of 31.

Could this be the 31st truck too roll out of Baltimore?

How else do I find how early this truck is?
Maybe the vin?

Normally - no.

The build sequence number might be something like 117231 (I made that up) and the operator will simply truncate the number to "31", "231" or "7231".

But - an early VIN will tell the story. You might be surprised, though, at how many vehicles are built "early".

My pickup was built September 28th of 1986 and they were already up to 317388 (probably started at 300001). Build sequence number written on the fenders, hood, rad support and grille was "87".

My GTO was built the first week of September of 1964 and was number 101731 (starting at 100001).

At one completed vehicle per minute they ramp up fast. "Number 31" would have to be within the first day or two of production.

Thanks I thought it was a long shot.
After I posted I did a lil' more digging and realized by the vin mine was built in Tarrytown.
For some reason I could swore i read Baltimore somewhere in the paperwork.

104325 is the last few digits of the vin.
After I looked I guess I could have answered my own question.
Oh well it never hurts too ask though.
