87 new gas tank advice, where did you buy? pleased?

Looking online at "quanta" since I have used them before but the tank they show physically is different thank mine they are $117 there.

other places seem to be about $80

my 87 is has dual tank, I believe they're 16 gallons each correct? I need to know this to order them.

want whoever sells the most original style looking tank. Also I noticed my originals are galvanized steel but look like either black overspray or they sprayed some of the top side. Not a neat job just a half azz black coating anyone familiar with this?

thanks for any advice just figure might as well since they're both out.

Bought a new drivers side for my '87 from O'Reillys. The old one was covered in black, almost like undercoating. We cleaned and sealed and undercoated the new one before installing.

Has been years and have had no issues.

I've had good luck with the Spectra brand tanks. Rock Auto usually has them pretty reasonably priced.

If you have the 8ft box you can use the 20 gallon tanks. The straps and the senders will work on either tank.

Yes - it is a lame attempt at corrosion protection.

Immediately before body drop the completed chassis would go through a spray booth where "chassis black" would be "painted" on the hubs, down the side of the frame rails, on the tank, and the top of the axle tubes and housing.

"Painted" is a bit optimistic, as the chassis black was a super thin, cheap black watery paint that was sort of "drizzled" in the general direction of the chassis.

This photo is from an Oldsmobile assembly plant but gives you the idea.
