Question Buyers response time?

After giving shipping quotes to first in line, how long is a reasonable time to wait to take the offer from the second in line?

Before anyone gets out the flame thrower, I'm not a hard ass or greedy I just was looking for a point of reference from some of the senior members.

Three days is a good rule. Just remember if you have tried to contact the person and no response on the post or in PM's or email... then I would send one last "I didn't hear back from you and moved on" ... someone might not like it, but if you've tried to communicate and they haven't responded ... they can get over it.

Thanks for the timeline, it seems to me to be common sense (which is getting less common). I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at how long some buyers expect the seller to hang-out and wait for them to make a decision. No wonder ebay has the sales numbers it has.... less hassle.

thanks again

Good luck with this issue, Its amazing how many members say they want something, you tell them shipping price, they still say they want it, then they never tell you they don't want it or wait a couple weeks then say they don't. Some stuff (bigger) is a pain to figure shipping on, but I guess they think you have all the time in the world to give them shipping quotes and more pics and they don't seem to care if you missed selling it to someone else because you thought they were going to buy it. Same story almost every time too, they were to busy to get back with you or don't have the money now. Sorry to ramble but its happened a couple times in the last week to me. I'm going to the 3 day deal to make decision, and if no money in a week, one pm back to them and if no answer its going back for sale.

I try it here first, but I usually wind up putting everything on eBay. Just seems to work better there.

Buyers seem more motivated on ebay. Could be because they are worried about getting negative feedback? Paypal seems to make transactions go smoother too. I would never pay again with a Money Order. I'm still waiting to get a refund for a Postal Money Order that I sent a guy for a steering tilt column. He never received it and the post office says it was never cashed. I've been dealing with this for months now. The MO was for over $400.00. I guess they figure you will just give up over time. Well, I just about have...I'm sick of dealing with the long lines and rude government employees. I'll just chalk that one up to a bad experience....Sorry for the rant. But I did end up buying a nice fresh floor shift tilt column from the Truck Shop in So.Cali. I would follow the ebay recomendation of three days. They have been around a while and seem to have set the standard for online transactions.

24 hrs

We should all be able to say yes or no in one day. No need to leave people waiting for several days.

I agree. Yes or no in one day. The Ebay 3-day policy is for making contact with seller/buyer AFTER the auction has ended...buyer already bought the item.
