I would go to http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/cat...log_search.php find the part number then google the part number to find the best price.

1987 4x4 fuel injected 350 model v10.

Not having a problem finding the pump just thought I would ask is there better options than "aritex" etc that most places carry.

Walbro was the OEM manfacturer.
The Walbro 190 will likely do a more than adequate job.

Hhmm..... seems like I recall someone mentioning something about those hoses

Fuel pump transfer hose (submersible, suitable for ethenal/diesel/gas) 5/16" x1'
Gates p/n H209

Available @ NAPA for sure.

Re: Well the hose was rotten on the fuel pumps. best fuel pump to buy?

I would think the new pump would come with the correct submersible hose.
The stuff you are looking for should say it meets SAE 30R10.
NAPA H209 is Gates 27093 1ft 5/16in ID SAE 30R10 ethanol gasoline submersible fuel line.
NAPA Submersible Fuel Hose PDF
Halfway down the O'Rileys product page is the PDF from Gates...

I thought the same thing. But my research indicated the hose would indicate in writng that it was rated for such. Both of the brand new AC Delco pumps I purchased had no writing @ all so I went into preventative mode.

Cheap insurance for the peace of mind knowing what's in place is the spec'd hose.

Re: Well the hose was rotten on the fuel pumps. best fuel pump to buy?

Guys I am reading to avoid airtex and spectra fuel pump assemblies and buy ac delco, walbro or Delphi assemblies.

Willing to pay a little more for longer life but not finding a complete assembly for my truck from any of those guys just components, anyone else run into this?

thanks

I bought AC Delco pumps (one for each tank). I wanted new pumps & transfer hoses in since my bed was off & it was the easiest time to access them. One has already failed (zero miles when it failed). It was replaced w/a Delphi pump.

The AC Delco pumps were made in Mexico. Delphi indicated Detroit.....

Re: Well the hose was rotten on the fuel pumps. best fuel pump to buy?

You won't get a complete sender and fuel pump ready to drop in.
The pump will probably include hose and spring clamps. It might include a new sock but don't count on it.

Walbro 5CA401. It's not a direct drop in as far as he wiring goes. It crosses to AC Delco 25168719 which is the GM part # for the fuel pump in a 1987 R1500.
In 1987 the Delco pumps were a Walbro part. Walbro is too expensive for them now that Delco is doing the third world outsourcing dance. Delphi may still be Walbro if they're made in the US. If you're looking for drop in and you can get a made in USA part from Delphi I'd go with them.

thank you for the info. Sounds like ac delco isn't a much better option quality than spectra etc.

whats the verdict bottom line here? order the walbro over the spectra? if so what is the other parts I guess the sending unit I will need with the walbro 5CA401? thanks

Do you have the part number of the delpli componets you used? assuming yours is a FI 87 350.

I am wanting to go Delphi or this walbro to keep from doing this for as long as possible.

Re: Well the hose was rotten on the fuel pumps. best fuel pump to buy?

If you're worried about changing the electrical connector.

Solder and "Fuel Resistant Heatshrink"?

About halfway down this page...
http://www.mcmaster.com/#heat-shrink-sleeving/=zxsj83
Try shrinking some of the fuel resistant shrink over a wire with no insulation in the middle and leaving it in a jar of gasoline for a few days. If it is going swell up, get soft, or melt it'll do it in 3 or 4 days.

I just replaced the pumps. Didn't feel there was the need on the sending units.

Re: Well the hose was rotten on the fuel pumps. best fuel pump to buy?

They aren't an all in one unit like the newer cars and trucks. You get a sender and a fuel pump separately and assemble them as a unit.

If the gauge is working then keep the sender you have. Replacements have a less than stellar reputation. Jumpy gauge needles and such.

Delphi is the easier install. If it's made in Michigan then it's probably a Walbro OEM unit.

6441376 shows up on Google as a TBI fuel pump for GM Opel division, FIAT, and Volvo 4 cylinder cars in Europe in the late 80's through mid to late 90's.

The 85-91 GM CK RV Light Truck parts books show the following in section 3.900;

87-89 RV1, 2, 3 (4.3Z, 5.0H, 5.7K, 7.4N) 6472763 N.L. PUMP, FUEL(IN TANK)
