Camper Special Emblem question
i have an 86 GMC Dually 10,000 GVW Camper Special. It has the Teepee badges at the cab corners but no CS emblems below. I thought that all CS trucks came with both.
What year GMC trucks came with the CS emblems? Did they stop doing this in the early 80's and just use the Tepees? |

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
Well I've got a 1975 C20 Camper special, and it has the teepee emblems.

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
Does your truck have the trim band below the rear window? I believe the trucks with the band would have the CS emblems and the trucks without would just have the teepee.

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
Yes, it does have the aluminum trim band. The teepee is embedded in the aluminum band.

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
I've seen a couple of variances over the years.
Mine being a 79, has the teepee emblems as a separate stand alone emblem, and then the camper special emblems under that with the GVW listed. Mine never had the large aluminum band around the cab. I've only seen one other camper special truck over the years with emblems like mine without the aluminum band. I've seen plenty with the aluminum band however, and it's a completely different teepee emblem, that is actually imbedded into the band just as described above. That seems to be the most common. So apparently like so many other cars, it could have been a running change, plant or production differences, trim differences between certain models and paint schemes, different years, or..... |

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
So I guess the question now becomes, "did any 86 GMC Dually Camper Specials come with the CS Emblems under the teepee emblem (in whatever form the teepee was on the truck)?
Reason being, I like the look but don't want to put them on the truck if they absolutely don't belong there. |

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
I've got an 83 k3500 1 ton dually camper special. No trim package, just the stand-alone camper special tee-pee square emblem and the 3+3 emblems.

Re: Camper Special Emblem question
Thanks guys. Looks like it probably didn't have them.
I've looked closely for any signs the emblems were removed and filled in, and didn't see any. |
