Tim,

Some intense google research has answered my question...

What I thought was a capital 'I' is actually a Roman numeral indicating the number '1'. Evidently GM used this seceret code in the '50's and early '60's.

Now I feel pretty dumb that I couldn't associate the Roman numeral 'I' for the number '1' seeing how they taught Roman numerals when I was in school.

Do they teach Roman numerals anymore?
