Hard Starting
A few days ago I changed out the jets, metering rods and springs in my 1406 Edelbrock carb. I also took the choke apart and cleaned it out. I put everything back together the way it was before (I took digi pics to make sure.) Ever since then it has been impossible to start cold. I shoot a little starting fluid into it and then it starts fine. After it runs for a little while it starts fine until it sits for an extended period of time. I assume it has something to do with the choke, but I have taken it apart a few times now and everything looks good, but I am by no means an expert. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? I welcome any help at all. Thanks.

Sounds like your choke, or possibly your acceleration pump in your carb.Is the choke automatic? is the flap closing when its cold? if so look to see that when you work the throttle you are getting a squirt of gas in the barrel.

It's an electric choke. It's possible it might be the acceleration pump, but wouldn't that effect the starting/driving all the time?

When you actuate the throttle linkage from under the hood, does the accelerator pump sqirt gas in to the carb? There is usually 2 jets that do this.
