Project Slow Build
I thought it was about time to start a build thread even though the wrenches won’t be turning for a little while. I’m hoping that by starting this thread will give me some inspiration to get my butt in gear. There are lots of reasons this project has and will take some time to evolve. Let’s just say that the project funding has and will be limited. On top of that due to back and other body pain I’m limited how much I can work on the truck. Add those to the fact that my garage is so full of junk right now that I can’t get my wife’s ride in there let alone a project (her car has first dibbs). All that being said, it will be a SLOW BUILD.

Re: Project Slow Build
The Plan
It’s pretty pathetic that I’ve been thinking about this project for over 20 years and still nothing is set in stone. You might recognize my truck as the TOTM April 2012 “You drive that!” winner. I’m not going to get into specifics just yet, but I’d like to transform it into something like the lower picture that I modified slightly in MS Paint.

Re: Project Slow Build
I can relate to limited progress due to limited funds and having back pain to deal with . Just being on this forum watching all these builds got me motivated to get my dads old truck i used to drive shipped across the us. I started my build thread and started posting and it has got me
Hooked. these guys are real nice and leave some cool motivational comments. Looks like you have a nice truck to start with. Be patient and little by little you will do what you are hoping to do. Once you jump in it will just start happening and after a while you will look back and be amazed on the progress you have made. Good luck Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project Slow Build
Well I guess the idea of starting a thread to jump start my build didn’t have much of an affect. My truck has been sitting untouched (except for the kids in the neighborhood kids walking over it like it was there fort). Due to city laws you can’t work on your vehicles in your driveway. People still do it, but if you have a neighbor that complains it can be a PITA. So anything that takes more than a few days can be problematic. I have to make it at least look like it’s a running vehicle just to park it in the driveway. For that reason I will have to make space for it in the garage to start turning wrenches. I cleared enough space for my wife's car a long time ago but I still have a big pile where my truck needs to be. In the mean time I’ve been slowly collecting parts to replace the engine, transmission and suspension along with disc brakes in front. I have most of the parts needed but I still need shocks, some stuff for the rear airbags and the transmission conversion items. At this point it’s the garage clean up is the major obstacle.
I just wanted to update this build isn’t dead, just slow.
