Angry Backfire out of tailpipe

I've had this problem ever since I replaced the cam. It's a stock grind cam. It runs fine with great power and so forth but when i let off of the accelerator, POP! it releases the backfire. What can be causing this? It's tuned, timed, and carb adjusted. Can it be a valve is too snug? Please help!

Raider Dave!

I don't have an answer... I wanted to say Hey! and ask if you have HEI or not?

I asked because the only time I had a bad backfire I crossed up two plug wires cuz I wasn't listening to what my mechanic friend said. I'll be interested to see what others suggest.

Later,

Jason

Any exhaust leaks up close to the engine? The introduction of fresh air via exhaust leak on deacceleration will also cause a backfire.

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.
