Crickets in my dash?
I have a problems with crickets in my 1985 Chevy Silverado LWB, I have a 5.0 305 with 350 tranny.
The problem is the sound is coming from underneath or behind the dash and its draining my battery. I know it's electrical but what could be running all the time? I have tried looking up different things but nothing yet. Thank you for your time gents/ladies |

The clock (if you have one), runs constantly, and its pretty noisy. Anyone who gets in my truck, will comment and ask "what's that noise?".
But that shouldn't run your battery down, unless your battery is on its last leg. |

TKCR, trust me if he is running with a Walmart (Neverstart) battery, that clock will wipe it out, after a couple days of sitting, one day if you have a radio drawing power for it's memory. Yes the clocks are very noisy, I disconnected mine at the fuse box, it was a locking plug near the top left side, think it was an orange wire, just keep un plugging till the clock stops see if that stops the noise..

Re: Crickets in my dash?
I've had great luck with my Wal-Mart battery.
There's only handful of actual battery manufacturers, and all the different "brands" are just different labels on the exact same parts. Many of the Wal-Mart batteries are manufactured by Johnson Controls, the same manufacturer that makes many of the "high end" batteries.

That's like saying Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal are all equal because they are all manufactured by Michelin but have different names (labels).

Re: Crickets in my dash?
Batteries are one of about 3 manufacturers. I've seen a battery plant first hand. They did a run of group 78 batteries while we were there. Twice they paused and changed pellet hoppers on the case molding machine. The first portion of the run was black, the 2nd was red and white, 3rd was yellow. The biggest difference, is retail price, which translates to the warranty you're buying.
Anyway, for the op, start pulling fuses one at a time until the chirping goes away. That should narrow it down fairly easily. |
