dash swap

I have a 74' c10, but I like the 72' dash layout and was thinking about swapping out the hole dash with a 72' dash. Does anyone now how the dash comes out? or if it can come out? I talking about the hole thang (dash pad and dash under that).

Re: dash swap

My guess is you're looking at major surgery. I think the thing is welded to the body. I'm working on replacing the instrument cluster with a custom using an Edsel binnacle as a basis. I'm still collecting parts but when I get into it I'll try to get some good pics. More to come . . .

Re: dash swap

Welcome to the forum dmcclanahan. The pad and cluster come out pretty easy. The metal frame underneath are welded in. It's NOT a bolt in deal, but that not saying it can't be done.

Re: dash swap

There are bolts in the kick panels and it is spot welded to the pinch under the windshield.

Re: dash swap

Reviving an old thread / idea.

Did anyone ever do this swap? I saw a pic today of a GSA auction truck with this swap and it looked really good but since i's an auction truck there's no build info.

Re: dash swap

A guy I know did the swap. Only pictures that exist, truck got parted and scrapped before being finished. He said it had to stretched a bit to fit, your results may vary.
