450 470 series drivetrain
What transmission was used with the 450/470 series trucks? What engine was used in these trucks?
I am trying to get a definite max torque number for this 5531 Watson. I am thinking a 302 with a 4 speed Muncie or Clark 5 speed. I am guessing a number between 1800 and 2000 lbs input torque. But, that is based upon a 302 engine and vague at this point. Thanks for any help.

Re: 450 470 series drivetrain
My 50 GMC 450 fire truck has 270 "H" head engine with Clark Direct drive final 5 speed. Don't know offhand what gears the rearend is, but it's single speed. Put a 2 barrel GM TBI with 2 barrel military intake and dual fentons. Top speed 60 miles per hour now. Too fast really, bounces around a lot.

It's a 453 chassis.
