Unless its a race only truck stay away from Holley. if you want it to run good, stay away from Edelbrock, im not up on any of the quickfuel or any other off brand, or race carbs, but I wont run the first two i mentioned. Ive ran a rebuilt Quadrajet on built small blocks, a GMPP HT 383, and a factory big block Quadrajet on a fairly fresh 454 that had more (consideribly) than 400 HP. I've had considerably better luck with Quadrajets than anything else I've had on any of my trucks, or any of the ones my dad has had or built, for daily driving duty or play. The last two rigs I've got had Holleys on them and they ran great at startup and full throttle, no where else. And in general Edelbrock has given me the most issues, the worst running, and left me stranded more times than the other two. This is just my .02, others will disagree but that's my experience. Stay Quadrajet if you ask me.

I sent all my engine info to SMI carburetors and Sean Murphy said to go with the 750 Slayer so I picked it up with the dual feed lines.

Let me know how you like that thing. I actually had one ordered but the company I bought it from failed to mention for 3 weeks that they didn't have one in stock. So I told them to kiss off and bought a holley at a local shop. Holley is alright and all but has a temper sometimes. I may still get the slayer if it's worth replacing. Plus I want the duel feed lines for the cool factor

Update:
My builder said that this 750 Slayer is too much Carb. for the stroker engine. And wants me to get a Holly 650 double pump. He said it's very hard to dial down for the new engine. It has to be set very Lean for the Blue Print Short Block for break in period. Anyway that's what Blue Print Suggests.
I bought all the parts before I met this new builder. So now I'm stuck with a new Carb. with less than 500 miles on it.

Your builder is wrong. That 750 slayer carb is perfect for a 400hp stroker. Its a vacuum secondary carb, has adjustable air bleeds and a quick adjust secondary diaphram. The 650 will work fine as well but I think you will be giving up some power with it. I ran a 650DP on my old 327 and noticed a lot more seat of the pants and throttle response when I put the 750dp on. I dont think you want that engine to go lean, that builds heat which is not what you want for a new engine. Just run the 750 out of the box and you will be fine.
