Rear seat arm rest question
I am having the 3 rows of seats redone in my suburban this next month and I have been looking into buying the rear armrests... Here is the issue I have, I don't like the ash trays in the arm rest and was wondering if anyone has ever duplicated these out of anything and just had them upholstered? I was thinking of making them out of wood or possibly even fiberglass and them just having them wrapped in foam and covered.. Does this sound like a crazy idea?????
Need some feedback on this one. By the way it looks I will have about 220.00 in new arm rests and ashtrays. |

I see no reason they couldn't be made from wood and covered with vinyl. With a little padding they would probably be more comfortable than the originals.... LockDoc

Re: Rear seat arm rest question
Interested as well. The armrest are the last item I need to finish my interior. I thought about using the available rests with the cut outs and making an insert for a USB charger for the kiddos.

Re: Rear seat arm rest question
i think square body Blazers had similar armrest on the back seat but without the ashtray. I've never tried to see if they are adaptable.
