2.5 McGaughy drop spindles
1" or 2" drop coil springs
5" rear flip kit

I am running stock 15s, so I want 2.5 drop spindles to prevent rubbing. So, on top of that I can go with 2" drop coils (cheaper) or 1" drop coils.

My thought is, if I go with the 4.5 in front, I can easily make the 5" drop in the rear a 6" drop with shackles later if I want to.

Anyone have pics of a 4.5/5 or 4.5/6 drop?

Western Chassis makes 1.5" coils. 4/6 will sit level. A 4.5/6 would be a good setup. One thing on these trucks I wish was different. There is around 1.25" difference in the fenderwell lips. So if you go level, there will still be the 1.25" showing above the tire. I still haven't figured out what the reason was behind this. But as we all know, GM is not too concerned with doing things that make a whole lot of sense. I'm also sure they were not worried about us lowering them either.

I believe they made the fender lip like that so that the truck would "look" like it is sitting level since the trucks backend always sat a little higher anyway.

You may just be right. With the 2" rake they had, this would make sense. Also, the 1.25" would give it more turning room/clearance I guess.

Id go 5.5/6" myself, or at minimum 5/5.5" O wait, that is what I did

Go for the bigger drop always. You will eventually so do it now and save some time.

Mike,

I agree, I don't like the gap caused by the uneven fender heights on a level truck. That is why I want a little bit of rake, and won't do a 3/5 or 4/6. I know about the 1.5" coils. I have a credit with Summit, so I thought I would use their 2" coils.

So, since the rearend is easy to lower later on, should I go ahead and do a 4.5 in front and a 5 in the rear for now? (I already have the shackle to go another inch if I want to later)

I just hope it isn't too low.

Just my own little theory, I pondered why they would do that, and it seemed like a good idea to me so I figured that must be why they did it.

I am trying to paste a spreadsheet I did with fender height vs. tire diameter. It's not working.

baggedc10, a 5/7 would not allow me to get into my driveway.

IMO, the difference between 4 and 4.5 isn't much. But it will reduce the gap a tad. It sure would be nice if they were built even in the first place. This gripes me about as much as anything on these trucks. I don't like a rake on a truck at all and without going to 5/7 there is now way to get rid of the gap without a rake.

If it isn't too big, you can open it up on your computer, take a screen shot (hit the "print screen" key), paste it into MS Paint, crop it to size, and post it as a GIF.
