Re: Door push button
Sure that would make them good and tight but aren't they supposed to provide an electrical ground? I'd think this might insulate the threads from the jamb.

Re: Door push button
They are the buttons in the door jam that are depressed when you close the door and that turns off your done and courtesy lights

Re: Door push button
Oh ok. I've always referred to them as a door jam switch or door ajar switch. Thanks for the clarification though.

Re: Door push button
I got door jamb switches from an 86 square at the pick and pull. My switches would hang up and not release when the doors were opened. The later model truck switches are a lot better quality and don't hang up like the older ones. I tried aftermarket switches but they had the same problem, so don't get those.
These switches are cheap at the pick and pull so I would just install new ones. My guess is that even later model trucks, like into the 90s, have the same switches so I would look for those also. These door switches are not very sturdy, so if you try to cobble your switches up to make them work they likely will continue to give you problems. |

Re: Door push button
The truck is painted. I was thinking of just tagging the side of the hole with a spot weld. Just a little something for the switch to grab. I have a thin washer to cover the damage to the paint. Was going to clamp the welder ground on the ground strap from frame to cab. Is there a chance for electrical damage? Is this a bad idea?
