TVS
Transmission Vacuum Switch.
Used to supply vacuum to the vac pot on the distributor only in high gear. A ground switch on the tranny made it work.

Here is another one behind the carb. It's not "plugged" up either.

Two guesses!!
Turbo 400 kickdown switch.
Or a high idle solenoid for a/c.

Your truck have either a/c or a turbo 400?

Nope. Neither. I think I could remove both, don't you?

If you don't need them.

Don't throw em away though.
Always handy to have a switch or two.

Re: Gadgets by carburetor

On the linkage, that's a dash pot. It's adjusted so when activated it stops the carb from going down all the way to idle. It works for just a second or two when you completely let off the gas, helps to keep it from stalling. Hope that makes sense. You can probably google dash pot or dashpot to get a better explanation.

Ok. Thank you. I don't think it currently does anything now so....if that's the case, I'm getting rid of it. As far as the first one, it is hooked to the carb via vacuum x2. I'll probably leave that one.
