Help with upper control arms
Got new control arm shafts bushings an seals. The shaft moves freely side to side, and the seals are loose, do I need some spacers?also, which way do the seals install? small side in or out.

Re: Help with upper control arms
I did mine a couple of years ago and dont remember any issues with it. The pics of this in my build thread are not showing up.. At first I did one cap then the other and something was not quite right so I removed them and threaded them on evenly at the same time. that seemed to work better.
There should be no spacers needed. If you PM me your email, I can send you the pics of mine.

Re: Help with upper control arms
New
Ok, I have them torqued to around 160 lb/ft cant move the shaft by hand, I can in the vise. There is still play with the rubber seal, I dont know if that matters in the grand scheme. I still can rotate the shaft in the vise to center the shaft in the arm.

Re: Help with upper control arms
It's been a few years, but the rubber seals don't look right to me. I recall my seals were a little wider and had a step in them. Different diameters on each end for a tight fit on the shaft and the wide end facing the threads on the arm.
I recall my shafts also being tight when I reassembled, have not had any problems since |
