73-77 Blazer Front Drive Shaft Compatability
Now that I've sorted out which tailgates fit my 73 blazer. I need some help with the front driveshaft.
The LMC catalog shows 2 different front driveshafts (one with a u-joint tip and the other with a flange). Supposedly, the 73 requires the u-joint version. I've hard a heck of a time finding a used one but don't want to shell out $320 for a new one. There's a ton of the flanged shafts around so is it possible to just pop off the flange and mount it without it? The blazer is bone stock as best I can tell and has full time 4x4. Here's the page from the LMC catalog: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/csb/full.aspx?Page=153

No they are different lengths but if you can't find them without it get the flange for your transfer case.

Re: 73-77 Blazer Front Drive Shaft Compatability
a jeep xj front driveshaft is the same style, but don't know if the length is compatable or not. those take 1310 joints, and the big round style is 1330.

What do I need to search for to convert the transfer case to the flange style output?

Re: 73-77 Blazer Front Drive Shaft Compatability
You just need the flange off the output it's just replaces the old yoke then you need a driveline that matches.I can't say whether the xj part will interchange or not but the early 70s squarebody 1/2 tons use a 1310 u-joint it would be a matter of length and if the cv joint will bolt up the same

Re: 73-77 Blazer Front Drive Shaft Compatability
some front output shafts are fine splined and some are coarse, like 10 spline or around there, not sure, , you will need to pull yours off and see what splines you have, then find a flanged one with the same splines.I have had to do this.
