I have no idea. thats why I'm asking what would be involved and what is necessary. I used to always have manual chokes on my british 1970s mobiles and found them foolproof and very functional. After a fews starts you get to know exactly what is needed to start the engine first time.

yes you can swap it over,
yes had one on my 79 Austin mini,my prob was getting the power from the boot to the bonnet @-40C lol

I have manual chokes on both my Burbs

how hard is it to do with basic tools and no lift?

Ive done them for decades, so it takes less than a half hour.
First time, give your self an hour, getting the cable though the dash is the hard part.
When you install it, draw a straight line from the carb to the dash, and install, it there.
Screw driver & pliers,(a wire cutter) thats about all thats needed.

You Tube has a few videos, the one with the Chevy truck, he put his in the wrong place.
