Re: My 56 3100 3.5 year build lots of pictures.
And the air is so much better to breath without all the diesel and 2 stroke smoke. I worked there in 90 and 91 teaching scuba diving in Pattaya. The traffic police wore O2 masks with a bottle on a dolly. In 2005 the air was a spectacular difference . I liked all the Harley's the guys at TQ's had. Plus liked watching the guys build those rental jeeps from scratch. Amazing work. Yours turned out really nice too. Jim. If I could just get my Thai wife to knock out some replacement panels for my truck I'd be in heaven. LOL.

Hey Dean, glad to see you made it over here. As long as I've been working on my '57, my old man (MrVette / Gilligan on the Corvette boards) has been telling me to get a hold of you. Now it's easier
Gorgeous build. Ever get that rough idle figured out?

Re: My 56 3100 3.5 year build lots of pictures.
No worries at all.
Mine is a year and a half in. I'm thinking that stage one, get it running & driving around town w/ the LS swap, is almost done. In the coming years, I'll try to come up with the money / time to get the body straight & painted. I'm in school (again) and my wife and I are having our first this fall, so priorities are changing. We'll get the registration up to date, get the exhaust finished & put an upholstered bench seat in it. From there... I don't want to say "quits" but it'll be pretty slow I imagine.

Just wandered into this thread. Super job, with a ton of creativity! Of interest to me was the Cincy Street Rods connection. We probably have some mutual acquaintances...

Dean, what is funny is us old guys think alike, I have the exact same '65-66 Fuel Injection sign on the back of my vette, between the rectangular tail lights....you have it on the side.....

I was a member in 1977 to 1979, I left the club due to being busy with car builds and garage expansion. Then in 1980 I moved to CA and joined the Hard Times club.

Re: My 56 3100 3.5 year build lots of pictures.
As I look at the second pics with the narration it was quite a project especially being that far from all the accessory parts needed. All I can say GREAT JOB.
That thing is LPG powered and the way you had plumed the system is excellent. Could not understand that until I see the captions with the pics. Cool way to hide all the LPG components. It is amazing how these guys are able to orchestrate such a project with crude methods of metal workmanship and have it turn out the way it does. There is a custom motorcycle / super car shop down the street from my mother in laws in Ubon and these guys are amazing also. They are true craftsman. Thanks for sharing your real nice 56 pickup. I bet it gets stares when you take it out on the road. Vic |
