muncie 4 spd
i found i guy that has 3 muncies a m20/m21 and the m22.which on should i get and will i have any problems with shifter install and what hurst shifter would you recomend.also will i need to change the clucth plate or will the shaft line up with the 3spd clutch.im thinking this should be a direct bolt in.
right now im running a 305v8/3 in floor with 4.11 out back.the 3spd is about shot and im going to put a mostley stock 402 in this fall so i might as well get the muncie now. thanks henry

The M-22 is what I think is called the rock crusher. It's called that cause its noisy because of the angle the gears are cut, but its a heavy duty tranny. I'm going with the M-20. I think you will need a different bell housing. The hole in your original is too large and you will most likely not get perfect alignment and that could cause input shaft and/or bearing wear.

M-20 is a wide ratio, m-21 a close ratio, and m-22 is almost bullet proof. i would go m-22. How much does he want for the m-20? i have a friend who wants one

I like the M-21 for a more racey feel. But if you want to bang the gears alot, go for the M-22. Drove one in a 70 chevelle with a blown 383. It held up great and I abused it daily.

thanks alot he dosent have the m20 no more and im scared to put a $1000 in a tranny from someone i dont know.its the wifes truck and she wanted a 4spd that will stand up to the bb.but we have debated allday half the night and today on going to a auto or manual we weighed all opttions and she is going with either
402bb/th400/3.42 or 402/700r4 beefed up/and leave the 4.11s outback

Take the side plate off of the m22 and look at gears. That would be the for sure way to see what shape it is in. M22's are getting pretty rare these days.
