Re: 1949 AD truck 'Chevy-49'

@ Rob,

Thanks for your tip about the cab ventilation, I drove the truck several years ago and did not drive with the vents open, hmmm... maybe electric windows will help.

@ Scott2

Thanks, that's the way I did get also all the information I need(ed).

This week bought a new welder, tried a lot of (test) welds to get the settings right, first welds to the cab:

Left cab corner is also in, need to trim the door gap later.

Fuel filler patch is in.

Re: 1949 AD truck 'Chevy-49'

I need to redo the floor in my 54 and replace many of the same parts you did.

Will I have any issues with laying my cab on its back to complete the repairs? I re-enforced the cab with 1"x1" tubing so i don't think it will flex, but I dont want to damage the sheet metal on the back of the cab.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I used my wooden dolly and thought the rear cab braces to hold the weight.
It was scary.....will not do it again.

Next time I will use the tube that I welded on the rear pillar and weld another one higher on the rear pillar.
Lift the cab on the lower tube put on a jack stand and turn/spin /lower the cab and put another jack stand under the higher tube.

Great pics, love the progress and nice work! I just cut open the right side cab corner last night and started looking at the gas filler hole as well! Can you expand on your comment about the cab corner and door gap and maybe post a pic? I'd like to know what I'm heading into.

Now that you've done the corner is there anything you'd do different next time?

The right rear cab panel was not as bad as the left side, the patch panel are not perfect, see pictures.
I will put on the doors first and trim the patch panels to fit the doors.

Same problems with the cowl panels. I did not weld the with the left and right outer cowl panels in yet. (see post 47)
