Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

To answer your question Hussey. I just set 2x4s under the running boards.I got pretty lucky when setting my bed. I was able to use the front bed mounting brackets from the s10 and drill and bolt in one of the bed cross braces. Then I just drilled into the frame to mount the back cross brace and bolted that on. Then I used 2 inch angle iron for mount the floor of the bed front and rear.

Here is the front bed brace mount to the old s10 bed mounts. Unfortunately I had to drill new holes In the bed strips to use this cross brace location. Here you can also see the 2" angle iron. Please don't jab me on the welds. My buddy decided to weld like a third grader. No,just kidding my welder was acting up.

Another pic of the rear cross brace bolted right on the frame. You can also see the rear 2" angle iron.

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

I did not cut the old s10 back frame brace off. I used part of the to keep the frame structure. I just have to do some griding to clean the cuts.

Re: Project U S Army Sargent Slam

Its hard to see. But I left the bottom of the frame flat to hold the bed up in the rear. The cuts ugly right now but I am planning on cleaning that up.
