You are correct, not very many to chose from, but I did find a few other than MIL spec:

I just bought a set of new 9.50R16.5 tires from Firestone. Look to be the same size as the Michelins that came off.

Re: 16.5 turbine style wheels w/tires on CL
The Firestone TransForce HTs and ATs are readily available. STA makes old school knobby skinnies, and BFG makes an All Terrain T/A. On the last, depends where you look, some places say not available and some say yes. The 16.5 was supposed to be made again in a 33", but I'm not sure the current status of the BFGs. STA Super Traxions and both Firestones are available.

Re: 16.5 turbine style wheels w/tires on CL
That's kind I ran on my '90 Blazer and the '72 I now have for a while. Looks like these were painted black between fins. Here are 8.25s on the '72:
Interco just recently came out with these, very possible in response to BFG foolishly halting production (so the word on the street says) when every time they do a run (due to so many complaints/requests) they sell out fast. http://www.ntwonline.com/Super-Swamp...-AT-C1888.aspx Not to mention their off road tires. This is for 4wds and the others cover the 2wds. Era correct is just too cool. Anybody can go out and buy the ugly modern crap. I'm surprised these aren't offered in 33s or other sizes to fill the gap between 9.50 and 12.50. Maybe those are yet to come.
