LED interior

I am thinking about lining the ribs of my ceiling with led strips and putting a smoked plexiglass ceiling so that the lights are under the plexiglass and glow throughout. has anyone seen anything done like this before?

I have not seen that yet but I would love to!!! Make yours the first! Has to be done tastefully though. That could get gaudy real quick so it needs to be subtle. Are you thinking like a frosted plexi? It would have to be quite thin since plexi gets quite heavy and the thicker it is, the more expensive it gets. It might end up looking like the cash cab.

i saw a video of an airplane interior done with lights that could do a light show, all controlled by sound, which is what got me thinking about it.

I've been tinkering with ideas like this for a while except on my Jimmy. I do mess with LED strips a lot though, and have been working on some projects for family and trying some new stuff.

I wanted to do a colored project with light coming through the front and found that you can buy glass window stain, that works on Plexiglas too. If you did a dark color you would still be able to see the lights through it but they shouldn't blind you.

I personally think it would look best to have the leds sit facing upward, spaced away from the headliner 1/2" to 1" and using the headliner to disperse the light

the truck has no headliner which is what gave me the idea of plexiglass with lights under it. i am trying to figure it out how to pull it off.

It can be done, I was just at and electronics place and they have them in every color of the rainbow.

Blue, white, warm white, yellow, red, and a bunch others.

It would look dynamite and the trick would be running the wiring in the roof line with nothing showing. Its pretty easy to do though with and electricians fish tape. There are other tricks to run the wire also, a coat hanger, some stiff household A/C electrical wire, old thin flexable fishing pole with the eyes removed and so on.

Use your creativity, I will be doing something like that on my truck and really like the idea of a frosted plexiglass with blue and bright white leds in a blue and white cab!

If done correctly, it would mimic a color light organ. Very appropriate for the time period.

I do aircraft interiors for a living and trying to incorporate the LEDs in mine as we speak. Not easy since the good LEDs are requiring transformers and inverters.

That is good to know, who's product line are these made by?

I ordered mine from Diehl which keep in mind that aircraft runs 28volts. You can get some nice LEDs from Aircraft lighting international which some of them are 12volts. There is another place but I don't know if they would sell to public is BE Aerospace. There is a certain look that I'm trying to achieve is why I using aircraft LEDs
