Re: Guess what is on the cover of Four Wheeler Magazine!!!
Picked it up last night. Is there a difference in strength between a d44 out of an f250 and an old d44 from under my truck?

Re: Guess what is on the cover of Four Wheeler Magazine!!!
Got the same mag in my mailbox last night, very clean build! He used an NP261 which drops to the ford D44 under the driver seat rather than passenger. He also did a rear disc conversion from an F350 van. Gotta look into that one myself. I gotta get my burb clean enough to get a cover shot and centerfold!

That's my truck I sold last year. He did a nice job. Too bad most of the article is inaccurate....

He repainted it (was HOK pearl, not metal flake), put stock seats back in, and changed the wheels/tires. That's it. The entire drivetrain, custom brakes, power windows, etc. was all ready done. Also, a lot of the parts listed are wrong. The p/w are Electric Life brand, driveshaft came from the same 02' Chevy as the motor/trans/t-case, the rear brakes are 80's Chevy 1/2 ton front calipers/rotors. That's what I can remember off the top of my head.
Now whether he told them he did all the custom work and where the parts came from, or they just assumed, I don't know. Either way, kind of annoying seeing someone take/get credit for work they didn't do. My buddy's who watched me build the truck, all got a pretty good laugh reading the article. How'd the d44 do with your old 38" Mickeys?

Never would have thunk that was your old Burb boostat4500. I like both versions, but you built a heckuva machine. I spoke briefly with you on the phone when you listed it. I wish I could have convinced the old lady to part with her mini van at the time. If memory serves that was a helluva deal.

I never had any issues with the 38's on the d44. I didn't really do much off roading though, and also didn't put many miles on the truck before selling it, so it may not be a good example of how the combo holds up.
