Got Another One.....

1970 LWB 1/2 ton. Rockers are bad, but eveything else pretty solid. Not w/out its warts, but hard to say no for such a pretty truck. Will keep you posted on my progress. Will have it looking good in no time. Funny, built w/out "Soft Ray" glass. Never understood that, have seen many non AC cabs with the "Soft Ray" and many trucks w/AC that don't have it. Glad they got the fire put out!!!

A question for the experts, are the side mirrors aftermarket? They are not original to the truck. Are they a painted version of the DG4 "below Eyeline Mirror"? THX.

Re: Got Another One.....

The seat foam caught on fire. That's why there's the hole. Other than a couple touch ups on the white (w/a brush...I can see the stroke marks), its all factory paint.

Re: Got Another One.....

Here's the correct seat cover for your truck. They're having a sale right now (rare) but not sure if it on the covers as well. You'll have to call and ask.

Hence why the rare discount helps.

Re: Got Another One.....

Can't wait to see how you buff that one out. It looks like it will shine up beautifully, nice score.

If you replace the rockers, will you try to match the original paint? If you do, what is the best approach as far as buffing surrounding original paint and matching it? I have the same issue on my truck and I'm scratching my head about the best way to do it.

I'm thinking after buffing out the original, I'll do my best to match the repaired spots, then clear coat the repairs to the same sheen. I would hope that would keep the repaired spot from fading differently than the original.

Have fun!

Re: Got Another One.....

Nice find, the red floor mat is OE. I've seen them in blues, greens, even browns and tans.
