Diesel to Big Block
I've got an '82 SWB Chevy with a 6.2 Diesel and I want to put in a 454. Can someone tell me what things I will have to change to make this swap. Motor mounts, etc..... It's got a Turbo 400 so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks in advance.

one thing of good news is that you most likely already have huge radiator in place for the 6.2. I'm not sure on the converters? . DAVE

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no!!!!
(In case you haven't figured it out, I don't think you should do this! ) The 6.2L SWB truck is a rare item indeed. They didn't make that many of them. Put a turbo on that engine, tweak the pump, change the rear gears, but keep the diesel! You can make yourself a screamer that also gets great fuel mileage! Casey

Yeah, a screamer!
One of the forum leaders at www.thedieselpage.com has customized his '84 6.2L SWB so that he is now running 0-60 in 8.98 seconds! And that's without a turbo! He's done a lot of work on the engine. It's basically been bored out to 6.5L dimensions, ceramic coated everything, high performance injection pump and injectors, gear drive replacing the timing chain, custom intake and exhaust, custom 700R4, etc etc. Most of the factory 6.2L diesels are dogs, because they were designed to be economy vehicles. If properly tweaked, they're pretty awesome! Casey
