My 60 Apache Frame Crack...
I was under the truck yesterday working. I happen to look a certain way and there it was. About a 2 inch crack in the bottom flange of the frame rail. This frame is MINT. It has black paint on alot of it so not caused by rust. I would think this crack is common on alot of these frames. It is just behind the rear cross member. So like just behind the transmission. I will take a couple pictures of it. I looked on the other side and it looks perfectly fine. This cross member is welded in the frame.

It does not sound too bad from what you are describing.
Drill stop, groove out the crack, and weld it up.

I would suspect it could have happened as a result of the cross member being welded in place. No flex when it wanted it.

I know it's not a big deal. Now if I didn't see it and maybe hit a big bump who knows. The welded cross member is factory. Not something that was added.
