I went to the auto parts aisle at Home Depot and bought a 1/2" x 1/2" x 36" square steel tube. Squirted some satin black paint on it, and used 3M double-sided tape for mounting chrome trim to stick it under the hood's center ridge. Took 90% of the hood's flex away, and nobody notices it there.
