Cupping Control arm vs new control arm?

I am updating and bagging or dropping my 64. I am debating trying to find out if its better to cup your lca or get new ones as far as which one will lower it the most. Money isn't really an option as I budgeted in my build to put new uppers and lowers already. But which will get my truck the lowest?

Control arms will not get you any lower due to the front crossmember being the lowest point.....you will have to get a dropmember or z the frame or section the front crossmember

i just went thru this, and as a guy who can fab i just couldn't stomach the prices of new custom arms. plus doing it yourself you get EXACTLY what you want.

pretty sure you'll be hard pressed to get any lower then i got on the C10 geometry without Z'd arms.

I'll have to look into that. As an amateur welder I'm not sure I trust my welding skills or my welder to do that. Also to kind of change the topic slightly. I've seen a lot of builders swap the front crossmember to one that already has disc breaks. Do any of these have smaller x members or are they swapping them simply for the updated components?

6DoF I wanna see these fab skills you keep posting about. Does your welds look like a roll of dimes? I'm still waiting on the crossmember your building. Pics are worth more than words.

Also 6DoF, you sound like a friend of mine that's a fabricator for the Local railway. He would build nuts and bolts if he could. I Asked him about the mustang 2 IFS. He told me it's not worth the Money.

Built in the USA! if you want something done right, do it yourself.

seriously though, it all depends on what you are starting with and the goal. do you have lots of time and little funds? no time, but solid funds? do you enjoy the challenge of creating it yourself, or are you building it to save $$ and just want to drive it? are you out-driving your current suspension?

i have no issue buying pre-built ready to go stuff, there is a lot of really good stuff out there. but i don't think he's wrong, you really have to justify the funds.

Plate/cup the lower arms so that nothing extends beyond the lowest point of the arms & section the x-member ~1.5" along w/swapping to drop spindles to get it really low while on a budget.....
