Re: 71 k10 axle shaft help

1972 and older had the smaller Dana 30 size joint. The outer would work but 1973 and newer
had the 297 joint.you can buy new from Randy s ring and pinion.

i have several 71-72 front shafts---i switch all my trucks over to 73 style which are much easier to find. you'll need the axle shafts AND spindles to do the swap. 73 style shafts are larger diameter in the center area of the shaft instead of being smaller diameter in the center area like 71-72. the seal area inside the spindle is machined smooth and uses a rubber "flapper" seal on the 73 style as opposed to the "pound in" seal on 71-72 style. if you're interested in one of my 71-72 shafts let me know-$50.00 plus shipping. i know this isn't the parts board, just trying to help out a fellow board member.
