Maybe it's like this:

- if you have what's left of a 70s thin lacquer factory paint job, you should be OK
- if you have 3 coats of base followed by 5 coats of clear, you're gonna chip it
- if you're somewhere in between you run the risk

And I can't even guarantee any of them!
