CPP tilt column

Anybody have a CPP tilt column shift steering column? If so...How about some feedback on fitment, quality and would you recommend? I really have to have a new steering column as mine is literally coming apart, and I'd love the tilt feature, but I can't afford to pay a small fortune for a replacement. Help a brotha out

Thanks!!!

Re: CPP tilt column

I'm subscribed. Saw a universal tilt column from CPP on ebay for 180 bucks. I know you need a DD u joint and intermediate shaft but you can grab those for 70-120 from CPP too. Not a bad investment if it works good and I have had good luck from CPP on both quality and customer service. Jeff over there is a solid guy.

Re: CPP tilt column

Saw them in there showroom a couple months back, they look great and seem to be of high quality, would also like to hear some reviews from some who have used them.

Re: CPP tilt column

So far unimpressed, the wiring is poorly crimped, and the column isn't cut square and rubs on my billet specialties steering wheel adapter.....

Re: CPP tilt column

A friend of mine bought one and it was very sloppy, kinda like they get when they are used. He sent it back for an exchange, the replacement was the same. He still used but he is generally unhappy with it.

I Have one in my truck and it is pretty decent. Really easy to install and works well.
It could be a
Little tighter at the tilt knuckle bit overall not bad

Re: CPP tilt column

All I can say is find a good rebuildable one and have Kevin at KevsClassics rebuild it. You will not be dissapointed, he is a great guy and takes a lot of pride in his work!!

Re: CPP tilt column

Well, I lucked up on a used tilt in fantastic condition so I'm glad I waited. I was really leery of the CPP tilt, & after starting this thread and reading everyone's experiences...I went back to O.E.

Good move. It took me years but I finally ran across a nice used tilt at the right price ($225). I passed on the early CPP promotion for their tilts at $300-something. I took the collar off and cleaned up the upper guts a little, then painted it. SEM Trim Black 39144 rattle can is perfect for the satin finish. I'm not sure about the CPP unit, but I don't like the typical aftermarket indicator housing and lens. The stockers are heavy pot metal and the lettering is different, sharper and more period-looking.

Re: CPP tilt column

I bought one of CPP's tilts off ebay last year. I am very disappointed with it. Wiring is cheap and the tilt is already sloppy. Poor quality for the money spent.

Re: CPP tilt column

I thought this thread was gone. I ended up with a solid stock tilt in one of my trucks and had Les (member 70ShortFleet) rebuild & paint another stocker for my '68 Chevy.

Re: CPP tilt column

Does anyone have a source of parts for a factory tilt? My turn signal canceling cam is worn out and the column has a little play in it. Also, is it a real difficult thing to tear the column apart to replace parts?
