Super Cheyenne

I have a 70 c10 plain jane but i am picking up a 72 super cheyenne that looks like will be a parts truck if i can make myself split it up.. Right now i am torn because it could be saved with the typical work. My question is did they even make a 70 Super since i was thinking about putting the interior into the 70 if i part it out..my 70 doesnt have a spid so its not like i am ruining the originality. thanks

Re: Super Cheyenne

Yep as said before no Cheyennes or supers in 70. The interior will however carry over in most part without any real issue at all. The door panels however are different and will reguire 72 only door and window controls which have longer shafts that are made to go thru the 72 only plastic door panels.

Re: Super Cheyenne

The controls are an easy swap if you've got the 72 parts available. It's a good time to refresh the anti rattle strips and seals around the glass while your in there. The pre 72 controls can be forced to work but it takes its toll on the panels especially the wood grain inserts. If your gonna do it, do it right the first time.

Re: Super Cheyenne

I will have both trucks complete. The decision i have to make is the 70, its a rust free one from Calif....I was going to do that up and keep it original . I just cant do it all the way because of the spid. The 70 also doesnt have AC so that adds to the equation.I am in the process of doing a 67 C30 dump I will see how much i have left in me after that one is done.

Re: Super Cheyenne

I would leave the nice truck alone. Or, if you don't want to restore a second truck and want a Cheyenne Super, why not use the parts from the '70 on the '72? You probably already know this, but GM added Super to Cheyenne to make the name Cheyenne Super. They never made a Super Cheyenne

Smile Re: Super Cheyenne

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong...but wasn't the Cheyenne Super a 1972 year option only?...with the Cheyenne being available in both '71-72.
...not sure what I recall with the backstory on this.

Cheyenne Super was added in mid-71. Let's see some pics of your two trucks!

Re: Super Cheyenne

Oops on saying super first... The 70 i know i really should leave it the way it is. Being a Calif truck with no rust and has lasted this long without being molested it deserves to stay this way.. The 72 super came from montana and is now in ny that will make it here in the spring.. that was a decent truck till it landed in ny and was run in the salt.. it will need all the normal rust work so undecided if i want another project. I got to paint the 67 and 70 and a farmall first so who knows...The pics are something i should have taken , i will when i can but wont be till spring... thank for all the commends.. i appreciate the support

Re: Super Cheyenne

Use the super interior in the '70 and make it the way you want. The super has been run in salt so it will always have rust issues popping up even after you restore it. The '70 is just a base truck so you really can't hurt its value by improving it with stock parts.

Re: Super Cheyenne

Thats what i was leaning towards when i decided on the 72... i got it so cheap i couldnt let it go to waste. I wont be picking it up till spring so who knows what will happen. The 70 is very nice, only thing thats not original is the 307 was repaced with a 350 and it was painted white over the original gold and the spid is missing. It was used as a work truck so lots of dings and dents but rust free.

Re: Super Cheyenne

CST in 1969-70 was basically the super Cheyenne trim without the wood grain glove box and gauge cluster.

Re: Super Cheyenne

I agree you should keep the original surviving truck as such. What some think doesn't matter now will as time passes.

Re: Super Cheyenne

I am leaning towards that. Special K I feel if something survives this long it should stay.... if something is already been changed i dont mind going along with it... I am torn with this 72 because it would need a lot of work.. but it also is far from parting out too. I have so many projects going on i really dont need another.....but very tempted too...hahaha
