What is wrong here.I bought a new lower hose for my 72 and it is the same as the one that was on it.I drained coolant out started cutting alittle at a time off at the radiator.I was trying to relocate the hose fauther towards the front to get it to clear the raised part of the frame.
Is the outlet on the water pump in the right place?Maybe the water pump is for another style vehicle?Please help I do not know what else to try.

Twist the end of the hose closest to the radiator clockwise before tightening the hose clamp and it will lay better over the frame rail.

I've always cut a portion off the old hose and used it as a buffer between the 2. Get rid of the cheap 99c plastic filter before you burn your truck down

Your bottom outlet does not look like it angles up like a 67-72 rad, it looks like it is straight. Here's a link with a straight outlet with a hose number and pic on post # 13.

Maybe its just me but the frame rail looks like its bent upward.. Its suppose to be flat across the top

They are all bent in that fuel pump area

The top of my frame rail also rises up in that area, my radiator hose does not lay on top of it and the hose starts to curve towards the water pump sooner. First impression I got when I looked at the pictures was that your radiator sits too low in the perches or you have the wrong radiator. ...something just doesn't look right. How about some addition pictures from the top & bottom?

The lower hose is a cut to fit for all V8 2wd and 4wd 67-72 trucks. Since the "K10" 4wd motor is farther back, you need to cut to fit for 2wd on the rad end. Cut a few inches off to get it off the turned up frame edge area. That being said its still a POS and poor replacement. I think they(replacement industry) could come up with much better. The 73+ hose has a real nice profile that wraps around the frame without interference but it is 1.5" on the rad end and the 67-72 rad is 1.75" so if you feeling strong go with that one but I would hate to have to replace that one on the side of the road. I found another hose that is 1.75" on both ends that fits pretty good.

even with the angled outlet, my hose still rests on the frame edge, i did like the others and cut a piece off the old hose and wrapped it around the new hose where it hits the frame

I don't want to be silly, but could the hose be backwards? Turn it around and have it come off the pump at a sharper upward angle?

Either way, lose the rubber fuel hose and plastic filter. Steel is your friend!

To me the bend just looked more pronumced than the one on my truck.

What would happen if you shortened the radiator end a little, about 3 or 4" and loosened the clamp on the engine and rotated that end clockwise a little, would that get the hose forward off that frame bend?

From looking at the posted picture seems to me the radiator is the wrong application for the truck. To your knowledge has the radiator been changed that you know of to current radiator? The local radiator shop, (last one in Wichita and been in business since mid late 60's or early 70's) told me that all GM radiators are the same actual core size for width and height between cars and trucks during the 60's and into the late 70's, differanced only by either 2,3 or 4 rows. Only difference was for the trucks the lower radiator opening was curved and turned up-wards to account for the radiator setting lower to the frame than it did in a car. I have a '71 K-10 4x4 and the lower opening turns upwards, even with that I have a old split piece of hose zip tied around the lower hose to prevent chafing as it get close to the frame still.

Sorry for the long post but with all that said, looks to me like the radiator is in-correct for the truck. If you have a "good" radiator shop local run it by them and have them possibly confirm what my local shop said about the up-turned opening. Good luck

Here's picture of mine with the original 4 core radiator which shows the upward bend of the lower outlet. It clears the frame fine. I'm not sure where I got the hose, but I think it was Classic Industries. Mines a 350.

Yeah I gotta do something with the cheap filter and fuel line to carb.IDK if it is the correct radiator or not.The bottom connection on the radiator is curved and turned upward.I have tried cutting the hose at the radiator.Afraid I will ruin it (too short) like I did the hose before.I guess I will give up on it but I sure don't like it.
