likelihood of a posi
hey guys, I bought a rusted out 73 gmc 2500 4x4 for a parts truck and was wondering what the likelihood is of the 14 bolt having a posi in it. and what diff the hd dana 44 front could have?

Re: likelihood of a posi
Hard to say, but very few people bought anything for the front. Most people had one front and one rear wheel with power. Even the sales people would swear it was 4 wheel drive.
If you rotate a wheel with both off the ground, what does the other wheel do? If it turns the other way, I think it is not posi. Also is there a mark on the driver side of the case front?

Re: likelihood of a posi
Ya if you jack both wheels off the ground and they turn the same way its a posi unless someoene welded them together... You can count the rotation of the driveshaft divided by the rotation of the wheels to get the ratio and the gears have a number on the ring gear such as 41 10 is 4.11. They could be anything.
