Check out No Limits 3 Link Rear Suspension. Has anyone used this kit before? I know the kit is new but wanted to see if anyone has any pictures with this kit installed. Why would someone use a 3 link vs 4 link?

The 3 link kit works real good for autocross and road racing. I'm gonna run a 3 link on my build.

I asked the same questions in one of No Limits' other treads. The only response I got was that it would allow for more articulation.

I am doing my 4 link in a similar way (crossmember that has all the mounts) and thought about copying his but didnt get enough feedback to justify the change.

The basic advantage with the 3-link IS the "free-motion" of the rear axle. A 3-Link tunes the "anti-squat", "rate of rise" and "tire load rate" the same way a 4-link, but, even with spherical bearings on all bars, a 4-link WILL start to bind up during side rotation. So, that's the up-side. There IS a down-side. In the design of a 'link' style suspension, it is the upper bars that transfer the torque. (the lower bars 'push' the chassis forward) So, if there is only ONE upper bar (as in a 3-link) ALL of the torque runs through it. In general, I would say that a 3-link, on the street, with 200 TW tires, is reasonably limited to appx 550 hp, 500 ft/lbs. - (at the tire) More than that, and you're starting to ask too much of the single link, and it's ability to evenly spread the torque load to both tires (wheel chatter) SO, if your power goals are higher than this, stick with a 4-link, or torque arm.

I would also like to see pictures of the 3 bar installed. I was going to order the wide ride and the fatbar and then I saw the 3 bar on the site. I like the way it looks and that you get a new cross member. I would like to get my truck to sit 5 or 6 inches from the ground at the bottom of the frame with a 28 inch tire. More so I want the tires tucked into the fender wells. Is that possible without raising the rear rails and bed floor and will I need the standard or dropped spindles? Thanks

Yes, this set-up would replace the current suspension.

Nothing wrong w/Truck Arms for normal use. They would be limited in a track (road course/auto-cross) application vs a 3-link/4-link set-up.

For anything less than track use, the T/A set-up works fine.

An aftermarket 3 or 4-link vs aftermarket or stock Truck Arms? Any aftermarket set-up that is designed to be lower could possibly get you lower vs a stock T/A set-up. But even stock T/A set-ups can be tweaked to put the frame rails on the ground w/a good ride.

T/A set-ups are simple, functional, & have great ride quality.

I see rock crawlers with plenty of articulation running 4 link setups, but it does require careful placement of everything to be symmetric, and also just in the right place... 4 link can work great but it can also work badly if you get geometry wrong. On crawlers, 3 link typically seems to be for ease of fitment - it can be hard to fit 4 links, especially up front.

This is true, but rock crawlers are also running a lot longer links (3'-4' long) than you would if you were building a race/street car. If you go to your local roundy round track, you'll see mostly 3-link rears. At the drag strip, 4-links or ladder bars.
