installing a mid 80- 90's steering column

I have been searching all day for info on installing a later model gm column
in my 1968 c10 so I can install a street rod plug & play wiring harness.

I have a mid 80's gm steering column, but the column plug- in wire connector falls within the brake
petal mount & interfers with installing the street rod wiring connector.

Anyone know of a steering column that will acccept the EZ wiring connectors?

thanks Don

Ididit? At least you won't have 2 ignition switches. What's wrong with the 67-72?

Re: installing a mid 80- 90's steering column

I can not afford a Ididit column.....I am looking for a gm column. There is nothing wrong with my steering column, however my wiring is burned. EZ wiring makes a nice wiring harness for a latter model gm column($185)

I am 77 with 2 back operations & can not fix my wiring,,,,I Can no longer get on the floor)however I can install
a EZ wiring kit with the proper steering column.

For the hassle you are going to have I think you can pay someone to install a turn signal switch on your old one. That is all the wiring there is on a 67-72 column other than the neutral switch.

Re: installing a mid 80- 90's steering column

The general consensus is these columns aren't worth the trouble to use. The ign switch is on the column, what do you do with the switch in the dash? Leave it or fill it so the dash loses it's balance? Then there are the issues you found. With options for the right column so plentiful there really is no reason to go changing that around. People getting into these trucks these days don't seem to realize what made these trucks some darn popular in the first place. GM built a beautiful well designed truck that stands the test of time! No need to go about changing every little thing (not saying you are) on these trucks.
