Getting on the Roof of the Burb - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am prepping my truck for paint. I need to do a little sanding and prep work on the roof of the burb. Any ideas oh how to do this. I am 6'3", but I am obviously to short to do it from the ground. A step ladder seems like it would put me to far away from the roof. Is it safe to actually get up on the roof? Anyone ever do this? Thanks

You will probably dent your roof. I would suggest a table or scaffolding. The roofs are very large and you may want to recruit
some help as it will take a while to prep. We used a stripping wheel to take the paint off as we were afraid sand blasting would damage the roof.

Get yourself a pair of benches from a normal picnic table set, and set them along side of the burb. That way, you have something stable, and you have 4-6 feet of walking space so you can spend more time sanding instead of reaching or up and down a ladder.
